The monastery of Michael Argagelou is located on the road, between the villages Astrida and Aliki. It is a women’s monastery that is dedicated to the patron of the island Michael Argagelou. The monastery was built in 1080. It is one of the most important sights of Thasos. What it makes this church special is a piece of “Honest Sun” located in its interior as well as its panoramic view.

The church of Madonna is located in the homonym village. It was built in 1833 and it is dedicated to Madonna. The church is famous for its impressive temple that was made in 1880. In the interior of the church there are many old icons of the 14th – 17th century, old coins of Madonna and the icon of Madonna Pantoblepousa.

The monastery of Batopediou or Kalogerico is located in the centre of the port and it is the symbol of the capital of Thasos. It is a two-storied building that was built in 19th century and in nowadays accommodates variables cultural activities.

The church of Agios Athanasios is located in the walls of Kastro. Kastro is a traditional village of Thasos. According to a sign the church was built in 1804. It is believed that the church is built upon the ruins of an old castle that there was in the area.

This small church is dedicated to Agios Nikolaos. It is located in the centre of the city of Thasos. It was built in 835 D.C. upon the ruins of an ancient temple and is considered one of the oldest churches of the island.
