Aegean & Sporades Islands - Agios Kirykos
(Ikaria Island)
Agios Kirykos is the capital and the harbour of the island. Agios Kirykos is located south-east of the island amphitheatrically round the harbour. Most houses are two-storied with tiles, but enough stone mansions exist that lend to the city’s imperial elegance. Unique decorations of Agios Kirykos constitute the neoclassic buildings that accommodate the Port authority, the Police and the Town hall.
Aegean & Sporades Islands - Mesta
(Chios Island)
The village of Mesta is the most distant of the medieval villages but it is also the most well-preserved. The form and architecture here is totally unique. The whole village has been intentionally planned and built as a maze, in order to prevent the pirate raiding parties from reaching easily the most important buildings located in the centre of the village.
Aegean & Sporades Islands - Alonissos
(Alonissos Island)
Alonissos is located about 4km north-east of the port of the island, built on the top of a hill, which grants her a beautiful panoramic view of the island. In the old times Alonissos was the capital city of the island which is why it took the name of the island, but unfortunately the city was entirely destroyed by the earthquake in 1956 and thus most of the habitants were forced to leave the city. Of course, the city was rebuilt and is now is a beautiful city housing the old one within.
Aegean & Sporades Islands - Pythagorio (Samos Island)
Pythagorio is a beautiful picturesque town, ideal for your stay on the island during your holidays. The port of Pythagorio, is the oldest man-made port of the Mediterranean. Amongst the picturesque narrow roads of Pythagorio we find unique neoclassical buildings, the ruins of the ancient Samos, the Square with the town hall and the archaeological collection of the town.
