Information About Ahaia Museums
The Museum displays findings dated from the Neolithic era. The findings consist mainly from the city of Aigio and other ancient cities of Aigialia (Aigira, Kerinia, Ripes etc.) but also from smaller unidentified ancient settlements of the area.
The Museum of Kalavryta started running during mid 1993, 50 years after the holocaust. The historic building was donated by Syggrou in 1906 and is directly linked with the destruction of Kalavryta. Its goal is to maintain the role of an educational centre about the prevail of peace and cooperation between societies.
In 1933, I. Karamandanis donated the two-story building to the city under the condition that the Museum was put up there. The museum has been lodged there since 1938. At the same time during 1944-1954 the City Library was also lodged in the same building. The museum has exhibits of archeological findings from the ancient city of Patras and the surrounding areas.
